Releasing baby sea turtles is a moving and powerful experience. It is something the entire family can enjoy. This is the only turtle release we’ve ever participated, and it was long overdue. We formerly lived in Hawaii and have visited many beaches where sea turtle nests were posted for protection, but never witnessed a turtle release until now. Upon learning about this release, we jumped at the opportunity. We’re glad we did. It is educational and fun for both adults and children alike. For those with a conservation consciousness attending, we were reminded of the vital role sea turtles play in maintaining the health of the oceans and how we can help protect all sea life by not polluting the world’s oceans and properly disposing of plastics and trash. The staff was informative and polite throughout the process. Also, we will never forget the joy and curious behavior exhibited by the children as they cheered release of the hatchlings. When it was time, each hatching was released by its temporary guardian. As we all watched, the wave accordion played with the hatchlings until each was snatched and pulled into the abyss to live out the rest of its life in service of mankind. The experience is priceless.
